AES Encrypt / Decrypt

AES-128/192/256 encryption and decryption.

How AES works

AES is a symmetric encryption algorithm: the same secret key encrypts and decrypts. AES-128, -192 and -256 use 16, 24 and 32-byte keys.

GCM is an authenticated mode — it detects tampering and wrong keys, and should be your default. CBC and CTR are unauthenticated: modified ciphertext decrypts to garbage without any error. ECB is not offered because it leaks patterns and the Web Crypto API does not provide it.

Never reuse an IV/nonce with the same key. DevCipher generates one with crypto.getRandomValues() when you leave the field empty.

Processed locally in your browser — your input is never uploaded.

What is AES Encrypt / Decrypt?

AES-128/192/256 encryption and decryption. AES is a symmetric encryption algorithm: the same secret key encrypts and decrypts. AES-128, -192 and -256 use 16, 24 and 32-byte keys.

Is AES Encrypt / Decrypt free to use?

Yes. AES Encrypt / Decrypt on DevCipher is completely free, with no sign-up, no limits and no ads.

Is my data safe when I use AES Encrypt / Decrypt?

Yes. Everything runs locally in your browser. Your input is never uploaded to a server, and sensitive values such as keys and tokens are never saved.
